Common-Unity Letterman + Velvet hood
Common-Unity Letterman + Velvet hood
Our Common Unity deconstructed letterman jacket was created using 100% of previously loved denim jeans. We were inspired to design a jacket that helps to unify all genders, cultures and races. Each jacket is hand sewn in a small studio here in NYC. These jackets are lined using deadstock velvet and rPET cotton material that we’ve held in our design studio.
Did you know that it takes an approximate 1800 gallons of water to create a pair of denim jeans? So what happens when they no longer fit, ripped or old? Textiles are predominantly thrown out as trash and not donated or repurposed. Landfills received 11.3 million tons of MSW textiles in 2018.
Just imagine we are saving about 4500 gallons of water each time we make a jacket. 10% of each jacket purchase will be donated to a non-profit organization in South Jamaica, Queens.
Please note that each jacket is made using a variant of blue and black hues. Each jacket is essentially a one of one, made custom per pair of denim.
Have a pair of jeans that you would like us to use to remake your jacket? Mail it to us and you’ll receive a $50 off discount code. Women’s cut (cropped) jackets are 4 inches shorter than our men’s cut.
